OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH TRAINING CENTRE

The Occupational Safety and Health Training Centre provides the following training courses for personnel in public and private sectors.  Employers who wish to send their employees to attend the courses should apply for enrolment in a standard application form.  The Programme Booklet with enclosed application form can be obtained from the Occupational Safety and Health Training Centre or downloaded from this homepage (Acrobat Reader software is required).  The training courses are provided free-of-charge.

The Centre is responsible for accrediting external training providers under a number of safety-related regulations administered by Labour Department. The following courses are accredited.

  1. Mandatory Basic Safety Training Courses (commonly known as 'Green Card')

  2. Confined Spaces Safety Training Courses
    a. Certified Worker Safety Training Courses
    b. Competent Person Safety Training Courses

  3. Loadshifting Machinery Safety Training Courses
    a. Loadshifting Machines used on construction sites
    b. Fork-lift Truck
    c. Fork-lift Truck (Front Loader)

  4. Gas Welding Safety Training Courses

  5. Training Courses for Crane Operators

  6. Training Courses for Persons Working on Suspended Working Platforms

  1. Approved training courses provided by the Construction Industry Council # under regulation 4A of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations :

    a. One-year full-time Basic Craft Courses
    b. Two-year full-time Basic Craft Courses
    c. Two-year full-time Diploma Courses / One-year full-time Certificate Course

    # It was called the Construction Industry Training Authority before 1 January 2008.

  2. Safety Auditor Training Schemes

The Centre is responsible for the approval of Cartridge-Operated Fixing Tools under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Cartridge-Operated Fixing Tools) Regulations administered by the Labour Department.

The Centre is also responsible for the approval of specifications for eye protectors, shields and fixed shields under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Protection of Eyes) Regulations administered by the Labour Department.

Besides, the Centre is also responsible for the registration of safety auditors and safety officers.
