Safety hints about fatal work accident that happened in Stanley on 4 May 2026

In response to the fatal accident that happened on 4 May 2026, in which a male worker was struck by a falling object while he was working inside a lift shaft of a residential building, the LD appeals to duty holders to take suitable safety measures to prevent workers being struck by falling objects while working inside a lift shaft, including:

• planning and coordinating works inside the lift shaft well to avoid incompatible activities being conducted at the same time; and
• ensuring the lift works are conducted under the immediate supervision of a qualified person who is competent by virtue of his/her substantial training and practical experience in relation to the relevant works.
