Safety hints about fatal work accident that happened in Kwai Chung on 19 March 2026

In response to the fatal accident that happened on 19 March 2026, in which a tower crane toppled suddenly during operation resulting in the death of the crane operator, the LD calls on duty holders to take adequate precautionary measures to ensure the safe operation of a tower crane, including:

• conducting appropriate design and calculations before installation of a tower crane;
• ensuring its structural integrity with adequate and stable support;
• conducting regular tests and thorough examinations, and
• ensuring lifting objects are not exceeding its safe working load.
