Lists of Typical Courses in Occupational Safety and Health accepted as Continuing Professional Development Programmes

Pursuant to the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations, Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) programmes for the purpose of renewal or revalidation of registration of safety officers shall be in occupational safety and health, be relevant to the needs and professional standards of registered safety officers, enhance professional competence and comply with the Guidance Notes on Continuing Professional Development Programmes under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations (“the Guidance Notes”).  Any courses that fulfil the aforesaid requirements, irrespective of short or long courses, will be accepted by the Commissioner for Labour as CPD programmes.

Through the years, there have been a diversity of courses accepted by the Commissioner for Labour as CPD programmes.  Some typical courses / course titles are now listed for easy reference of registered safety officers.  Please take note that the courses in the lists are by no means exhaustive and showing our preference.  Registered safety officers may take courses, depending on their needs and professional standards, that comply with the statutory requirements and the Guidance Notes as CPD programmes for the purpose of renewal or revalidation of registration.

The lists of typical courses can be downloaded from the websites of the Labour Department.
