Labour Advisory Board Members appointed
The Government today (December 27) announced the appointment of 12 members to the Labour Advisory Board (LAB) for a term of two years starting from next January.
The five LAB employee representatives as elected by registered employee unions are:
- Mr Cheung Kwok-bui
- Mr Cheung Kwok-bui
- Mr Leung Chau-ting
- Mr Poon Siu-ping
- Mr Wong Kwok-kin
- Ms Wong Siu-han
The five LAB employer representatives as nominated by major employer associations are:
- Mr Ho Sai-chu
- Mr Leung Kwan-yuen
- Dr Mak Kin-wah
- Mr Yeung Kwok-ki
- Mr Yin Tek-shing
Moreover, Mr Cheung Pak-chi and Mr Chen Cheng-jen are appointed on an ad personam basis as the employee member and employer member of the LAB respectively.
Mr Yin Tek-shing is a new member to the LAB while all the others
are incumbent members. Mr Yin is the Vice-president of the Chinese
Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong and a member of the Hong
Kong Productivity Council. He is the President of the Dah Chung
Industrial Co. Ltd, President and CEO of the Screw & Fastener
(HK) Co. Ltd.
The LAB is a tripartite consultative body which advises the Commissioner
for Labour on matters affecting labour. It comprises 12 members,
six representing employers and six representing employees. Of them,
five employee representatives are returned through an election by
employee unions while five employer representatives are nominated
by employer associations. The remaining employer representative
and employee representative are directly appointed by the Government.
The Commissioner for Labour is the ex-officio chairman.
