Q1. What are the first aid training courses approved by the Commissioner?
 
A1.

Under the provision of Occupational Safety and Health Regulation (OSHR), Cap 509A, ‘a person trained in first aid’ shall be a person:

  1. who holds a certificate of competency in first aid issued by the St. John's Ambulance Association, the Auxiliary Medical Services (AMS) or the Hong Kong Red Cross; or
  2. who is a registered nurse within the meaning of the Nurses Registration Ordinance (Cap 164); or
  3. who has completed a training course in first aid and who holds a certificate to that effect issued by an organisation approved by the Commissioner.

To date, the following courses are considered to serve the above purpose:

  2. Refresher First Aid
2. Carita Limited (Open to public)
  1. First Aid and AED Certificate Course
  2. First Aid and AED Certificate Refresher Course
3. Civil Aid Service (Not open to public)
  1. Basic First Aid Training Course
4. Emergency Medical Response Society (Open to public)
  1. First Aid, CPR and AED Certificate Course
  2. First Aid, CPR and AED Certificate Refresher Course
  3. First Aid and Emergency Response Certificate Course
  4. First Aid and Emergency Response Certificate Refresher Course
  5. Advanced Emergency Incident Responder Certificate Course
  6. Advanced Emergency Incident Responder Certificate Refresher Course
5. Fire Services Department (Not open to public)
  1. Ambulance Officer Initial Training Course
  2. Ambulanceman/ ambulancewoman Initial Training Course
  3. Ambulance Officer Foundation Training Course
