New Amounts
of Five Compensation Items under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance Raised - The
Employees' Compensation Ordinance (ECO) provides for the payment of compensation
to employees and family members of the deceased employees for occupational diseases,
injuries or deaths caused by accidents arising out of and in the course of employment.
- The amendments to the ECO, as passed by the Legislative Council
on 30 June 2010, to increase the amounts of five compensation items have taken
effect from 1 August 2010. The new levels of compensation are applicable to work
accidents which happen on or after 1 August 2010. Details of the amendments are
as follows:
