Q1.In what way will the date of injury determine whether an injured employee will be eligible for compensation in accordance with the Employees' Compensation Ordinance if he receives medical treatment and the respective certification from a registered Chinese medicine practitioner?
A1.

The amendments to the Employees' Compensation Ordinance made under the Certification for Employee Benefits (Chinese Medicine)(Miscellaneous Amendments) Ordinance 2006 shall only apply to employees who sustain work injuries or suffer from prescribed occupational diseases on or after 1 September 2008 (according to the time of Hong Kong). They will be eligible for the compensation under the Ordinance after receiving medical treatment and the respective certification from registered Chinese medicine practitioners.
