Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board

The Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board was established on 1 July 1991 under the Employees Compensation Assistance Ordinance (Chapter 365) to administer the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund (the Fund). The Fund provides for the protection of the entitlement of employees and others to compensation for employment-related injury, and for the making of relief payment to eligible persons in relation to common law damages for such injury.

Functions
  1. To hold the Fund in trust and to administer the Fund in accordance with the objects of the Ordinance; 
  2. To receive monies collected from insurers by the Employees' Compensation Insurance Levies Management Board; 
  3. To determine the eligibility of persons applying for payment from the Fund; 
  4. To advise the Employees' Compensation Insurance Levies Management Board from time to time with respect to the amounts required to meet known and anticipated claims against the Fund.

    Membership

    The Board consists of nine members who are appointed by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The current term of appointment is from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2010 with composition as follows:
