Under regulation 4A(1)(c) and (d) of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations, no person under 18 years of age shall be employed at any place on a construction site unless that person has taken an approved training course and possesses a certiicate of completion in respect of that course issued by the Construction Industry Council #; or is undergoing on-site training as part of an approved training course, under the supervision of any person authorized in writing by the Construction Industry Council for that purpose.

Approved training course means such training course provided by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) as the Commissioner for Labour may approve from time to time for the purposes of regulation 4A.

The approved training courses which are currently offered by the CIC are as follows:

(1) One-year full-time Basic Craft Courses on :

(a) Construction Scaffolding Works
(b) Construction Plant Maintenance & Repairs
(c) Electrical Installation

(2) Two-year full-time Basic Craft Courses on :

(a) Bricklaying, Plastering & Tiling
(b) Carpentry & Joinery
(c) Painting, Decorating & Sign-writing
(d) Plumbing & Pipe-fitting
(e) Marble Laying
(f) Metal Works

(3) Two-year full-time Diploma Courses:

(a) Diploma in Building Construction Supervision
(b) Diploma in Civil Engineering Supervision
(c) Diploma in Building Services Supervision

(4) One-year full-time Certificate Course:

(a) Certificate in Quantity Measurement
