Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Gas Welding and Flame Cutting) Regulation
The Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Gas Welding and Flame Cutting) Regulation has come into full operation on 1 March 2004. The main provisions of the Regulation are:
- proprietor shall ensure that gas welding and flame cutting work is only performed by a person who has attained the age of 18 years and holds a valid certificate; or is performed by a person who is undergoing training in gas welding and flame cutting work and the performance of such work is under the supervision of a certificate holder;
- proprietor shall provide his employees with recognized training courses designed to ensure that his employees are adequately trained and competent to perform gas welding and flame cutting work; and
- employees shall attend the training courses provided by the proprietor.
From now on, any person who performs gas welding and flame cutting work must hold a valid certificate obtained after completing a recognized training course.
