Under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations, the registration of a safety officer is valid for 4 years. A safety officer should apply to the Commissioner for Labour for renewal of his/her registration prior to but not earlier than 9 months before the registration expires. For example, safety officers whose registrations will expire on 7 June 2010 should apply for renewal of their registrations on or after 7 September 2009.
